KALOS comes from the ancient Greek word meaning "beautiful" or "noble beauty" - but not (only) the superficial kind. In Greek philosophy, kalos represented beauty that radiates from inner virtue and excellence. It's the kind of beauty that comes from being truly well-nourished, balanced, and thriving from within.
We chose this name because KALOS isn't about covering up or masking - it's about cultivating the kind of radiant, healthy glow that can only come from proper internal nourishment. When your skin has the building blocks it needs to thrive, that's when you experience kalos - beauty that's authentic, effortless, and undeniably yours.
Why use marine collagen peptides instead of typical bovine collagen?
Marine collagen peptides have smaller molecular weights compared to bovine collagen. This means better absorption and bioavailability, and more peptides that our skin is actually able to use.

Studies have demonstrated very strong antioxidant activity with tremella mushroom in skin cells, helping fight photoaging in skin. In addition to this tremella mushroom has also demonstrated it's ability to upregulate protective proteins that strengthen our skin's natural UV defense system. Finally, tremella mushroom has demonstrated strong melanin inhibition activity, suggesting strong evidence for it's ability to fight hyperpigmentation and dark spots, and promote a brighter, more even complexion.

You will not find artificial flavors, colors, fragrances, or sweeteners in KALOS, or in any other product at HIBI Youth.
How is this sweetened and flavored?
This was the tough part. We knew that to make KALOS habit forming for best results we needed to make a truly enjoyable beverage.
Most drinks on the market today either have massive amounts of sugar, which can cause skin aging via AGEs, or are unbearably sweet with ingredients such as low quality stevia and monk fruit with a funky aftertaste.
After months of testing, we finally sourced a newer organic stevia extract, Rebaudioside M, which makes up just 1% of the steviols in the plant but has virtually no bitterness or aftertaste. By combining a tiny amount of Reb M with just 5 grams of organic cane sugar, we were able to give a subtle sweetness to KALOS without the funky aftertaste or massive blood sugar spikes.
For flavoring we elected to use real authentic fruit powders at every opportunity combined with natural flavors. If you are sensitive to natural flavors or choose not to ingest them we suggest the Blueberry Pomegranate Sangria flavor which only contains real blueberry powder and pomegranate juice powder for flavoring.

I have a shellfish or fish allergy. Can I use this?
Due the presence of marine collagen and pearl powder we do not recommend KALOS if you have a fish or shellfish allergy.
Are HIBI Youth's formulations pregnancy safe?
All of our products were designed based on a personal need for clean, effective beauty and anti-aging products which the founder felt comfortable using through pre-conception, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.
